  • "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

Happenings
Life has been looking up lately.

I went to a wine show in Wilmington last week and hung out with my friend Morgan. We ate lunch at the Copper Penny, and I laughed as he tried to get the bartender's number. He didn't notice until he was pretty well into his game that she was married. I just laughed.

We cruised over to the show and although it was pretty small, I tasted some amazing wines. I ended up getting a spring in my step and told some of the wine reps that one of their distributors was a dick. Morgan told me it was time to leave after that. Sorry, the guy is a dick.

This past week I got to hang with Scott, Alicia, and Dena. We ended up going to a great birthday party somewhere by the Tar River, and despite my apprehension, ended up at Fifty Fifty. We found a table in the corner, and it wasn't too crowded, so I was able to relax somewhat.

The weather for the past few days has been amazing, and today I took off on my first bike ride of the season. I clocked in 20 miles and my legs are killing me. It was great to soak up the sun. My whole outlook on life has been very positive lately. I guess the weather and some other factors are to thank.

At a Glance
Movies: I enjoy most films by Kevin Smith. Over the past few months, I have been downloading movies on my Tivo. I really dug "Thank You for Smoking", "Best in Show", Vince Vaughns Wild West Comedy Show, and "Wanted".
Music: Hmmm...What's on the iPOD as of lately..."Careless Whisper" by Seether, "Bizzare Love Triangle" by New Order, "Sex on Fire" by Kings of Leon, and "Buzzin" by Swayze.
Television: First off, I only watch Tivo when I do sit in front of the TV. Tivo captures goodies like "Two and a Half Men", "Intervention", "30 Rock", and stuff from the History Channel.
Books: "Setting the Table" by Danny Meyers. The book hit so close to home I felt like I could have easily written the first 4 chapters myself. It is an awesome read for anyone in the Hospitality Industry. I am also reading the new Stephen Colbert book "I Am America (And So Can You!).
